How long do you play for at
a wedding?
Usually we play 9 to 12pm with a short break while tea is being served
at approx 10.30pm.
Do you play waltz sets?
Yes! Depending on the occasion we'll also play jive, rock and
roll and other traditional dance sets including the "Paul Jones
Set", the "Seige Of Ennis" traditional set, etc if you
want.
Don't worry, no waltzes, etc, at your graduation ball though!
Our wedding is in Antrim,
how far will you travel and how much extra will it cost?
No problem, we play nationwide and our wedding fee remains
the same regardless of where we go. We keep travel expenses to a minimum
and will only assess additional expenses if the function is more than
50 miles from Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim..
Do you allow guests up to sing?
Yea that's fine by us.
We enjoy the craic as much as anyone and pride ourselves on being amongst
the best play-by-ear "buskers" in the business! We only take
requests from the bridal party though.
Our guests are mostly under
40's and we don't really want any old-fashioned stuff like waltzes,
etc; can you leave them out?
Absolutely. But please
don't underestimate the importance of your older guests and their music
at your wedding reception! Usually these guys are the most willing to
occupy your dancefloor early on in the night while younger more energetic
guests take over as the night progresses.
The DJ that's supposed to come
on after you guys has let us down at the last minute - can you do anything
for us?
No problem. Dennis our drummer (producer of "Saturday
Night Live" radio show on ShannonSide 104.1 FM) has DJed hundreds
of parties over ther years and can take you out of this jam in a heartbeat!
We also supply a top class wedding DJ to keep the beats flowing after
the band has finished if requested.
Though we've heard your band
is very good, we'd still like to come and see you for ourselves, where
can we see you guys in action?
Just give us a call and
we'll give you a list of gigs that you can attend to see us for yourself...
do come up and chat with us afterwards, it's always nice to put a face
to a name!
We were surprised to see Gobsmacked
playing a lot of U2, Coldplay, Talking Heads, etc along with other Chart
& Dance songs at a recent charity fundraiser; It was a great night,
but would this kind of music go down well at our wedding?
We generally stick to
a standard wedding template set which we then expand as the night progresses
in accordance with the audience we find in front of us. We use a simple
formula for our nightly playlists and it has never failed us yet! In
a way, you could say your guests ultimately choose most the music on
the night!
